"Although my images seem so different, they have many common threads. The main common thread which I have in my photographs is community development. I ’m drawn to photography for the connection of documentation  and possibility capturing images that might seem mundane and maybe even over looked by the most as they are hurrying off to their work and other daily events.  And I hope with my bodies of work I provoke questions and thoughts, and also pleasure in viewing."

Carolyn also uses photography as a form of self expression and has had numerous solo and group shows both locally and internationally.

Romancing the Soil

Amidst the toil and soil of my garden, local gardens, and community gardens, one can feel the romance of the soil that the gardeners cultivate between the cute ornaments and signage, and the protective scare crows.

As the rain drips down and the sun kisses the plants , the gardens become full of bloom with beautiful flowers, delicious herbs and health vegetables for nature’s bees, birds and insects to feast upon prior to harvest time.

"URBAN COMMERCIALISM " What intrigues me about this type of visuals is that they are in places that were totally impossible a few years ago. With the technology and cost allowing to go bigger and bigger adverting is no longer have confined space limitations. ......Urban Commercialism

The Cuban Ballet, I recently had the opportunity to Photograph  the Cuban ballet performers during a class prior to a performance in Chilliwack BC.
This intimate afternoon brought myself and 3 other photographers connected through dance an opportunity to capture digitally the intensity
of practice prior to the opening night performance. We were very fortunate to be allowed in the doors of the classroom and to be trusted with
our cameras to bring out the day to day dedication and determination of being a dancer without the glamour of makeup, and costumes.

I started photography images for this project in the day, however one night I found myself staying for the beautiful sunset. The Glorious Hues of that evening convinced me to re shoot the whole 4 panels at night .

All photography are of Richmond , BC . The 4 panels were 7 ft x 7 ft, back lite , and showcased under the skytrain The No. 3 Road Art Columns. This project was co-sponsored by Appia Group of Companies and the City of Richmond. The exhibit is presented in partnership with the Necklace Project, an inter-municipal collaboration for public art, involving 10 local cities that are commissioning works on the theme of “illuminating communities.” panels 7ft x ft , back-lite.
